LIDO recognizes that during challenging economic times, telecom training and education initiatives are inevitably reduced or often eliminated altogether. LIDO does not want to see education sacrificed as a result of budget cuts, and we do not want to see individuals limited in their ability to acquire vital telecom skills as a result of constrained financial resources and the lack of affordable educational options.
Under the Telecom Education Stimulus Program, our single-user license fee has been reduced to US$275.00 for a three month subscription. When the good times return, we will review the pricing and adjust, but for now, our wish is to do what we can to encourage affordable yet world-class telecom education, with certification for those that require the additional credentials.
And the good times will return. Historically, telecommunications revenues have increased after every crisis since the 1970s. Even in the aftermath of the telecom bubble, the U.S. telecom market still managed 6.6% growth in 2001, 1.8% in 2002, and 3.2% in 2003 before bouncing back to close to 10%. Policymakers understand that the telecom sector has traditionally shown financial resilience and can help rejuvenate a Region’s entire economy. Economic conditions are stabilizing, and a recovery is expected to begin gaining momentum in 2011, with healthy economic growth extending through 2013. By 2011, global telecom revenues are estimated to reach close to US$5 trillion.
